Oklahoma native writes song to help Newtown survivors
An Oklahoma native has written a song to help people affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, Conn.
The crushing news of the Dec. 14 shootings of students and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., sent singer-songwriter Tommy Bailey to his guitar.

Putting his thoughts to music is commonplace for the Oklahoma native now living in Nashville, Tenn., where he and his wife, Emily, run Collision Media, a Web and graphic design company.
The son of Tony and Tricia Bailey, lead and founding pastors of Northview Church in Oklahoma City, Tommy Bailey said his music often reflects his faith. And as a member of the worship/rock band Bailey and another group called Catalog of Blunders, music is his way of conveying thoughts and emotions.
Tommy Bailey said his sorrow about the shootings and his determination to spread the hopeful message of Christ led him and his wife to write a “simple song” they titled “Let There Be Hope.”
“There may be no words in the midst of the valley; but peace, be still, is whispered there; come rest on something sturdier than this life,” states the song.
“It was just kind of a way to express my thoughts for my friends and family,” Bailey said. He said he and his wife hope the song will be a blessing and comfort to all in Sandy Hook who have been affected by the tragedy.
