The Pioneer Library System has announced two retirements, one in Norman and the other in Tecumseh.

Basha Hartley was honored at a reception Tuesday in Norman. Hartley has served the Norman Public Library for nearly 26 years, 21 of them as children's service manager.

Hartley is a longtime member of the Mountain Plains Library Association and also is active in various groups in Norman, including the Children's Rights Commission, the Red Ribbon Week Coalition and the Norman Rotary Club, traveling to Finland in 1994 as part of the Rotary's Group Study Exchange.

Plans are in the works for a permanent sculpture in Hartley's honor to be placed in the library's children's department. Those wishing to contribute to the project may do so through the Pioneer Library System Foundation.

Susan Goldsberry has been a librarian for 30 years, serving as Tecumseh Public Library's branch manager for the past 10. She will be honored at a retirement reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Tecumseh library, 114 N Broadway.

Goldsberry began her career with the Pioneer Library System in 1982, working continuously with the system since that time except for a brief stint at St. Gregory's University in Shawnee.
