Norman Public Library offers revamped schedule for children

Norman Public Library officials have added some new story times and geared activities to children's age levels.

Officials have revamped the Norman Public Library's children's programs, gearing story times to age groups and interests and adding more story times for babies and toddlers.

Branch Manager Leslie Tabor said the new schedule offers something for every age group, including a new program called Creative Space at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays for children in third through fifth grades.

Story times for children up to preschool age have been increased to five times a week, including a weekly story time for all ages at Sooner Mall. All other story times are at the library, 225 N Webster Ave.

This year's schedule also will feature additional special events, including a summer program that will bring in special performers to enhance the summer reading program, Tabor said.

The new weekly schedule is:

10 a.m. Monday, story time for children birth to prekindergarten.

10 a.m. Tuesday, Sooner Mall story time for all ages.

6 p.m. Tuesday, story time for children birth to prekindergarten.

3:30 p.m. Wednesday, after-school special for children in kindergarten through second grade.

10 a.m. Thursday, story time for children birth to prekindergarten.

6:30 p.m. Thursday, Creative Space for third through fifth grades.

10 a.m. Friday, Rhythm Babies, a music and story program for children birth to age 3.

11 a.m. Friday, Library Music Connection, a music and story program for ages 3 to 7.

11 a.m. Saturday, story time for children birth to prekindergarten, with a special invitation to the youngest infants and their families.
