Gretchen Peters to perform in concert in Norman
NORMAN — Singer/songwriter Gretchen Peters will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Santa Fe Depot, 200 S Jones Ave. Tickets are $20.
Born and raised in Boulder, Colo., Peters moved to Nashville in the late 1980s where she found work as a songwriter, composing hits for Martina McBride, Etta James, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Anne Murray and Neil Diamond.
Peters won the Country Music Association Song of the Year award in 1995 for McBride's “Independence Day.” The title track of her own 1996 debut album, “The Secret of Life,” hit No. 5 on the country charts that year and later was recorded by Faith Hill. She has released nine albums.
Peters will be joined in concert by her longtime piano accompanist, Barry Walsh. Tickets are available through www.TicketStorm.com or at the depot. For more information, call 307-9320.
Peters' appearance is part of the Winter Wind concert series sponsored by the Performing Arts Studio. Winter Wind concerts are supported by grants from the Norman Arts Council, the Oklahoma Arts Council and donations from businesses and individuals.
