“He called Coach (Mike) Gundy just a little while ago, so it's official now,” Holmes said.
Bowser joins John Tyler teammate Fred Ross, a receiver, as part of OSU's 2013 recruiting class.
Bowser, 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, is targeted as a defensive end, giving OSU three players in the 2013 recruiting class at a position of need. The other two, junior-college transfer Sam Wren and high school prospect Naim Mustafaa, both enrolled at OSU to start the spring semester.
Bowser played defensive end and outside linebacker, as well as backup quarterback, for John Tyler, which reached the state semifinals.
“He's versatile and very athletic,” Holmes said of Bowser. “Once he gets in and learns the system, he could be a guy who can contribute early.”
Bowser gives the Cowboys 22 verbal commitments for the 2013 signing class, three of whom are already on campus. Signing day is Feb. 6.
