Nebraska could eliminate income tax

Nebraska Gov. Dave Heinemann is pushing to eliminate the income tax on individuals and corporations. He said the loss in taxes will be covered by people having more money to spend and eliminating corporate subsidies. Corporations would prefer abolishing the income tax and stopping incentive payments.

Oklahoma could do the same. Oklahoma has too many incentive programs, which eat up millions annually. No doubt corporations would prefer no income tax over incentive payments. No fair tax or flat tax will make Oklahoma prosper. The solution is to eliminate corporate welfare, downsize state government and audit programs such as common schools and higher education. Then let citizens have that money to raise their standard of living, just as no-income tax states do. Put that money in the hands of the private sector.
