RSVP of Central Oklahoma, is pleased to announce the continued support of Boeing employees in the Oklahoma City area. Boeing Employees Community Fund (ECF) recently presented a check for $4,000 to the RSVP Board of Directors to support RSVP’s Provide-A-Ride program.
RSVP Provide-A-Ride utilizes volunteers age 55+ to drive low to moderate-income persons age 60 and older to medical appointments. This free service ensures Oklahoma county seniors with no means of transportation are able to get to necessary medical appointments and treatments.
The funds from Boeing ECF will be used to provide mileage reimbursement for volunteer drivers who perform the service.
Faye Beam, Provide-A-Ride Coordinator says, “Our volunteer drivers use their personal vehicles to drive clients, and they do this out of the goodness of their hearts. However, due to the cost of fuel, many of our wonderful volunteers have to limit the number of times they can drive for us, or the distance they can go, which ultimately adversely affects our clients.
This $4,000 will make a significant impact on RSVP’s mileage reimbursement budget, which will help us reach our goal of serving even more clients.”
RSVP of Central Oklahoma is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization linking volunteers age 55 and older with essential community needs throughout Oklahoma County since 1973. It consists of 1,000 volunteer members who join together in helping 100 local organizations meet their missions through volunteer support.
Several services such as Provide-A-Ride have also been developed. Membership in RSVP is free, and all services provided by RSVP are provided at no cost to clients. For complete information, please contact RSVP at 605-3110 or log on to www.rsvpokc.org.
