The music documentary “Sound City,” the directorial debut of esteemed Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, is getting an exclusive one-night-only Oklahoma showing at 7:30 tonight at the Harkins Bricktown 16, 150 E Reno.

The documentary pays tribute to the fabled recording studio that was located in Van Nuys, Calif. Despite its humble appearance, it was the birthplace of some of the best albums of the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s. It was ground zero for the launch of Grohl’s own career, since Nirvana’s breakout album, “Nevermind,” was recorded there.

Scored by the music that was recorded there, the film features interviews with many of the stars who rocked Sound City, including Neil Young, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Trent Reznor, John Fogerty and Lars Ulrich.

The doc is fresh off causing a buzz at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It is not rated but should be considered an R due to language.
