Bible Lesson

“May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

— Colossians 1:11, 12

All believers can pray the above prayer of the Apostle Paul for Christians around the world. The followers of Christ can also pray this prayer for themselves. They can memorize it; or by respectfully replacing the word “you” for “I” or “me” where appropriate, they can write the prayer on a card as a bookmark for praying before they read their Bibles.

When we struggle to remain faithful and obedient to Jesus Christ in the face of suffering and temptations, we can pray this prayer. When we learn of Christians suffering persecution or standing steadfast in their faith rather than obey godless decrees, we can pray Paul's prayer for them. Our Father can give us a portion of His glorious power to make us mentally, morally, spiritually and physically strong. He can give us insight and wisdom to prepare for the future, so we will be ready to patiently endure anything. No matter what happens to us in this world, the followers of Jesus Christ can joyfully give thanks to their heavenly Father because He will give His children a share of the inheritance that He has prepared for them because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
