Both Norman North boys and girls swim teams captured the Mid-State Conference championship Saturday at Oklahoma City Community College, while Edmond North's boys and girls' squads won the Metro Conference titles.
Justin Wu and Tomas Elder led the Timberwolves boys' squad with four conference titles each. Wu set a conference record in winning the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 1:39.40. He also finished first in the 100-meter backstroke.
Elder was the champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Both Wu and Elder were members of Norman North's championship relay teams in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle.
Alex Zhu won the 100 breast stroke for Norman North and also was part of the winning relay teams. Kendon McGehee was on Norman North's 200 medley relay that set a conference record, while Alex McMillen was the other member of the Timberwolves' winning 200 freestyle relay.
Freshman Madie Sarantakos won four titles for the Lady Timberwolves, capturing the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. She also was a member of two winning relay teams, the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
Other members of Norman North's girls winning relay teams were Shelby Sarantakos, Andrea Rodriguez-Sanchez and Dovie Rayburn.
