Yukon Public Schools superintendent sets retirement date

Yukon Public Schools Superintendent Bill Denton announced Monday that he will retire June 30, 2014. He has been the school district superintendent for the past six years.

The Yukon Public Schools superintendent announced he is retiring in summer 2014.

Bill Denton announced his retirement on Monday. He has been the school district superintendent for the past six years, according to news release.

His retirement is effective June 30, 2014.

Before retiring, he said he wants to see the new high school athletic facilities completed and to focus on providing teachers more professional development to help with added responsibilities in the classroom, the release states.

Denton also is active in the Yukon community, serving on boards for the Yukon Chamber of Commerce, Youth and Family Services, Inc., and the local United Way chapter.

Before moving to Yukon, he previously served as superintendent of Woodward Public Schools and held administrative positions in Bartlesville, Fairview and Vici public schools, the release states.
