A man shot outside a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex Tuesday afternoon is in critical condition, police report.

An unidentified man was shot about 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Britton Courtyard Apartments, 7000 W Britton Road. He was taken to the hospital and is in surgery.

Police said they think two men were trying to rob the man and shot him after a struggle. They are searching for two black males who were last seen running away.

The apartment complex is adjacent to Wiley Post Elementary School. Putnam City School District spokesman Steve Lindley said the school went on lockdown for a brief time, but reopened quickly. No child was harmed.
