OU football recruiting: KJ Young could be a 'nightmare in the slot' for Sooners
Citrus Hill (Calif.) High School coach Eric Zomalt knew he had to find a way to get KJ Young on the field his sophomore season.
“KJ was a running back his whole life, but when he was a sophomore we had a kid ahead of him so we just tried to find different ways to get him on the field,” Zomalt said. “We ended up moving him out to wide receiver and he just took off from there.

“He's an excellent athlete. He's got big hands, great leaping ability, and he's great at running after the catch. He's just really a playmaker.”
At 6-foot, 180 pounds the Perris, Calif., product is expected to play in the slot receiver position for the Sooners.
Zomalt believes that's exactly where Young needs to be.
“I think he'd be a nightmare in the slot,” said Zomalt. “He's really explosive.”
Young, a three-star prospect, burst onto the recruiting scene during his senior season as he racked up 1,593 yards receiving with 18 touchdowns while helping lead Citrus Hill to an undefeated season.
ESPN.com rates Young as the No. 84 wide receiver in the 2013 class. He verbally committed to Oklahoma in January shortly after his official visit to Norman.
