2. Texas

Even when the team isn't winning regularly in the fall, Mack Brown's Longhorns succeed in February. Texas scored big on the offensive line, which is a good place to start when you're trying to rebound from a dismal season.

3. Oklahoma State

The Cowboys brought in one of the nation's best collections of receivers, and addressed pressing needs at running back, defensive end and safety. No quarterback in the class, but that wasn't an urgent need.

4. Baylor

The Bears' class is led by offensive stars such as WR Robbie Rhodes of Fort Worth-Southwest, while the defense bulked up with a group of highly rated linebackers.

5. West Virginia

The Mountaineers' isolation from the conference shows up most in recruiting. Their top commitments, WR Sheldon Gibson and LB Derrian Howard, are from Ohio, with other players from New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
