The core of that team is still there: Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Tony Allen. They still could be a tough matchup. But no way do I see them being able to beat OKC in a series.

What's the philosophy of the Thunder's defense as far as Pick/Roll? Where does the help come from, who do they want shooting, what shot will they give up, etc.

If tried to pin this down for a while now. There's no definitive answer. In short, it depends who the opponent is.

PJ3 has disappeared on the floor when he has been out there and I'd like your opinion on why that is. Do you think he can't get into the flow with such sporadic minutes? Or do you think it is something else?

He's mentioned in the past how unpredictable minutes (and not a lot of them) has contributed to his struggles. But when you look at guys like Hasheem Thabeet and DeAndre Liggins and how they've maximized their court time, it becomes pretty difficult to use that as an excuse for PJ3.

Do you think Maynor deserves one more shot?

Deserves is a tricky word. It's not 6-year-old girls soccer we're talking about here. So even though Maynor has said and done all the right things since being replaced, I don't think it'd be smart on Brooks' part to just go back to him just to do it. Reggie Jackson certainly hasn't done anything to lose the job, and if Brooks begins to yank those guys in and out of the lineup there's a good chance that neither will be very effective.

Are you suprised by how little the Thunder seem to care about how/what the media seem to talk/write about them? And, do you feel they're a fair team to work with as the beat writer?

Oh they care. There's a difference between not caring and not seeking attention. The organization doesn't go after attention. But they definitely care what is written. They read everything and go out of their way to keep things positive. But, yes, they are a fair team to work with.

In many ways I do. He basically said many of the same things that I and others have said in the past.

Along the lines of the PJ3 question,the "thunder Way" gets some good publicity for developing players. But how much is is the system, and how much is just having talent? Was Harden not emotionally ready to be a franchise guy and was lucky to not be drafted into a spot where he HAD to contribute? Or did his game need some refinement before he was capable of being the guy he is in Houston?

No way was Harden ready. Look at a guy like Tyreke Evans. If Evans would have been with the Thunder, he might be a star. If Harden would have gone to Sacramento, he might be a bust. The Thunder does a great job of developing players.

How prevalent are the players' entourages when it comes to your involvement with them? Do they talk to you or play gatekeeper for the player?

No. Nobody really has an entourage. Durant has two close friends and his brother at nearly every game. Everybody else just has their brother or a girlfriend or wife or their parents around. The whole NBA entourage things really is overhyped.

Sure. Why not? I didn't like what he did in the Finals last year. I don't know anyone who did. But we'll see if he learned some lessons from those mistakes. But I don't see the team going in another direction if he falls short this year.
