ARDMORE — A prosecutor says he won't bring charges against a man who Carter County authorities say stabbed his brother to death.

District Attorney Craig Ladd says 27-year-old Jerry Kildow's death on Jan. 25 came as he'd assaulted four family members, including his brother, 23-year-old Chance Jacobs.

Ladd said criminal charges aren't warranted because Jacobs engaged in “a reasonable effort to defend himself.”

A local newspaper reports the attack occurred inside a residence, and Kildow wandered about 100 yards into a field, where he died from the stab wounds.

Jacobs was not arrested after the incident.
