Candy retailers expect sweet revenue for Valentine’s Day

More than half of Valentine’s Day gift givers are expected to buy candy this year, according to the National Retail Federation, representing $1.6 billion in sales nationwide.

Shoppers made last-minute stops to pick up sweets for their sweetie on Wednesday, the day before Valentine’s Day. Chocolates and other candy are the most common Valentine’s Day gifts.

More than half of gift givers are expected to buy candy this year, according to the National Retail Federation, representing $1.6 billion in sales nationwide. Total holiday spending is projected at $18.6 billion.
