A Jay woman died in a crash in Delaware County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports Thursday.
Krista Summerfield, 37, was found dead at the scene of a crash about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, the patrol reports. She had last been seen about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday dropping off her children at school in Jay, the patrol reports.
The crash was 5.2 miles south of Jay on U.S. 59.
Summerfield was found lying a few feet from her car. She had been ejected. Seat belts were not in use.
She was dead of massive injuries.
She was expected Tuesday to drive to Kansas, Oklahoma to attend vocational school, but she never arrived. She apparently failed to negotiate a left curve and drove off the roadway, hitting a steep embankment. The car overturned and hit a tree. The wreck remains under investigation.
