Nine transactions in the second half of 2012 reduced the amount of big-box retail space in the metro area by 340,728 square feet, a reduction of 34 percent, according to brokers Mark Inman and Stuart Graham of CB Richard Ellis-Oklahoma.
• Gold's Gym leased 19,000 square feet, a portion of the former Baker's Supermarket at Penn Crossing Shopping Center on the northeast corner of NW 23 and Pennsylvania Avenue.
• Planet Fitness leased 21,217 square feet, a portion of the former Hobby Lobby in Brookwood Shopping Center on the southeast corner of SW 89 and Western Avenue.
• Heritage College absorbed the former 46,011-square-foot Best Buy on the northeast corner of Interstate 240 and I-35.
• Developer Jim Tapp bought 27,000-square-foot Westpark Mall on the northwest corner of NW 63 and MacArthur Boulevard in Warr Acres and plans to demolish it, reportedly to develop a grocery store.
• Goodwill leased 33,500 square feet, a portion of the former Albertson's Supermarket on the northwest corner of Britton Road and May Avenue in The Village.
• Golfsmith leased the 33,000-square-foot former Ultimate Electronics on the southwest corner of Memorial Road and N Pennsylvania Avenue.
• Accident Care & Treatment Center bought the 25,000-square-foot former Border's Books on the north side of Northwest Expressway between May Avenue and Lake Hefner Parkway.
• Gold's Gym leased 14,000 square feet of the 50,000-square-foot former IGA supermarket on the northeast corner of I-40 and SE 15 in Del City.
• MWC Storage Investors LLC bought the 122,000-square-foot former Walmart on the southwest corner of Reno Avenue and Midwest Boulevard in Midwest City.
