Norman small business class set
NORMAN — A course on small business basics is planned for 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Norman Economic Development Coalition's eTec2 facility, 3209 N Flood. Topics include business concepts, the potential market, funding, legal structures, insurance, business names, what small business owners need to begin and other practical information. Attendees will have access to professional one-on-one business counseling after the course. Cost is $49. Hertz receives recognition
The Hertz Corp., which has its U.S. administration headquarters in Oklahoma City, has been designated as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association. The rental car company earned the accreditation at its Oklahoma City office and its worldwide headquarters in New Jersey by helping employees eat better and move more. “Physical activity and employee wellness are important priorities at Hertz,” CEO Mark P. Frissora said. “We're committed to providing the best workplace environment possible. This will benefit our employees' health and produce even more positive results for our worksites overall.”
U.S. Cellular expands 4G LTE
U.S. Cellular will be adding high-speed 4G LTE service in the areas near Seminole, Idabel, and Joplin, Mo., and expanding the service to other cities. New coverage will include the cities of Seminole, Holdenville, Wewoka, Wetumka, Kiowa, Okemah, Weleetka, Idabel, Antlers, Hugo, Broken Bow and surrounding communities. Expanded coverage will be provided to residents in Ardmore, Duncan and Tulsa. U.S. Cellular partnered with King Street Wireless for the service, which offers faster wireless speeds for Web browsing, video streaming, video chatting and app downloads. By the end of 2013, an estimated 87 percent of U.S. Cellular customers will have access to 4G LTE speeds, the wireless provider said. Currently, 61 percent of its customers do.
