Meet our India correspondent, Lindsay Houts.
Lindsay has been blogging from India for the past four weeks. Hopefully, you’ve already seen it, read her posts, browsed through her photos and watched her videos.
If not, there’s still time to do so before she returns to her life in Oklahoma. But you only have about one more week.
The blog is titled, ‘Incredible India,’ and it features the normally mild-mannered web editor within our sports department as a thrill-seeking Oklahoman learning how life works in a variety of towns in India.
Her trip to the India-Pakistan border is one of my favorite posts.
This space is divided down the middle, Indians on one side, Pakistanis on the other. The border closes each day with this decades-old intense and perfectly choreographed ceremony … The pomp and circumstance, the aggression in the soldiers’ eyes, the raw patriotism on each side. It was one of the most incredible things I’ve seen in my life.
Lindsay also embedded this video (she didn’t shoot this one) to go with her description:
But she has shot plenty of her own video and tons of her own photos. And the photos really help tell her story.
There are so many more photos and tales — everything from sightseeing tours to meeting the families she has stayed with to trying to learn to balance a basket on her head (with her eyes closed).
You have one week to catch up and read her entire blog before she returns.
If you like it, we might make it a series. Trips to Ecuador? Italy? Western Kansas?
We’ll discuss it when she returns.
