Oklahoma concert to benefit music therapy foundation
“Okie Folkies & Freaks: Songs of Oklahoma,” a concert benefiting the Music Moves Mountains Foundation, will be presented at 7 p.m. April 6 at the Blue Door, 2805 N McKinley.
Local artists scheduled to perform include Honeylark, Scott Keeton and Kate Leary, with additional acts to be named at a later date.
The foundation is a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering music as a means of therapy and recovery, and the concert is designed to raise awareness and funds for community programs and services.
The concert also will showcase the diversity of talent in Oklahoma while highlighting its greatest songwriters through history, from Woody Guthrie to the Flaming Lips. The night will also include testimony from local music therapists, educators and recipients of music therapy.
A suggested donation of $20 or a donation of a new or used instrument will be accepted at the door. Raffle items will also be available for purchase to benefit the charity. All ages will be admitted. For more information, call 524-0738.
