An Oklahoma City animal welfare worker found a dead zebra Thursday evening at a northeast Oklahoma City acreage.
Catherine English, superintendent for Oklahoma City's animal welfare division, said an investigator responded to a complaint about the welfare of the animals on the acreage.
An investigator found three dogs, two horses and a donkey, in addition to the zebra. The other animals were in good condition.
English said the investigator issued a citation to the owners of the land and an investigation is ongoing.
English said the zebra was here legally. No zoning ordinances were violated and there is no license needed for owning a zebra within city limits.
