— Tickets for the Edmond Fine Arts Institute production of “Anne of Green Gables” are on sale for $6.

Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. March 8 and at 3 and 7 p.m. March 9 at the New Hope Church, 700 W Second St.

The cast consists of 23 students in fifth through 12th grades.

Translated into 20 languages, “Annie of Green Gables” is the classic children's novel series about a red-haired orphan girl whose personality was loved by everyone. Adopted by the Cuthbert siblings, Anne is a child of optimism and imagination.

The books were written by Lucy Maud Montgomery and take place primarily on the Green Gables farm.

Peggy Hoshall is director of the play. Hoshall, who joined the institute in 2000, has more than 25 years of experience teaching and directing children's theater and performance experience in the Dallas and Oklahoma City metro areas.

Chelsea Yeager will play Anne Shirley. Dylan Carver is Matthew Cuthbert, and Sarah Lemke is Marilla Cuthbert.

“People look forward to our theater company productions each year,” said Mitzi Hancuff, Edmond Fine Arts Institute executive director. “With the wonderful message and fun of this story, we are ready for another great run.”
