A McLoud police officer and a wrecker driver were both hurt Thursday night when a suspected drunken driver crashed into them while they were assisting a motorist, authorities said.

No names were released Thursday.

About 8:15 p.m., a McLoud police officer and a tow-truck driver were assisting a motorist on Interstate 40 near Fishmarket Road when a car crashed into the officer's car and the wrecker, Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth said.

The wrecker driver suffered a compound fracture to his leg and was taken to OU Medical Center, Booth said. His condition was not available.

The officer was able to walk away from the incident, but was taken to a hospital to be examined.
