In response to “White House says cuts could force loss of teachers in state” (News, Feb. 25): In case of a revenue shortfall, whether due to economic conditions or neglect of responsibility by elected officials, I propose any loss of salary by federal employees due to furloughs, etc., shall also entail a proportionate loss of income by elected officials and all those in supervisory posts above the individuals furloughed. I see no reason why those least able to bear the sacrifice should bear it alone, especially since few of them had the power to bring about the revenue shortfall in the first place.
