DAISY POWER

Event: Juliette Low Leadership Society Luncheon.

Where: Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

To benefit: Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma.

Money raised: Around 400 guests braved streets covered in snow/sleet to attend the luncheon, which raised $280,000, bringing a total of $2.2 million over the last nine years.

Guest speakers: Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush. Daughters of former president George and Laura Bush, the girls are poised, knowledgeable speakers who held the audience's attention with the warm intimate account of their lives and careers. They gave credit to their parents for being role models and giving them the confidence and passion for public service. Hager is a contributing correspondent to NBC's “Today” Show and Bush is CEO and co-founder of the Global Health Corps. Wearing sleeveless dresses, blonde mom-to-be Hager was dressed in red, and dark-haired Bush wore black accessorized with black boots.

Leaders: Anne Gray and Myrla Pierson were co-chairmen and honorary co-chairmen were Joan Maguire and LaDonna Meinders. Ann Cameron and Lindsay McIntyre were co-chairmen of the sponsorship committee.

Special: Hundreds of roses in mixed colors were used on the entry tables and as centerpieces on the luncheon tables, exuding a wonderful fragrance that was welcome on such a frigid day.

Seen: Jose Freede, Cassandra Lewis, Jeanette Sias, Joan Gilmore, Rita Moore, Ellen Jane Wheeler, Polly Nichols, Becky Roten, Lil Ross, Karen Luke, Anita Dahlgren, Gwin Lippert, Ann Johnson, Joy Richardson, Mary Pointer, Kay Goebel, Linda Whittington, Jo Carol Cameron and Annie Bohanon.
