“That may have been the second-best game we played all year,” McGuinness coach Tondrell Durham said of the win over Del City.

But Durham, whose team is coming off a 5A title, said the field was dangerous.

“There's a pretty deep field,” Durham said. “There's a lot of teams that have plenty of experience being here and then you've got a few new faces like Chickasha and Noble.

BREWER'S CELEBRATION CUT SHORT

Friday night, Southeast coach Walter Brewer was on a high Friday night after his team clinched its first state tournament berth since 2008 with a win over Carl Albert.

Brewer's brother-in-law, Terry Johnson, was killed in a one-car accident near Lavaca, Ark., on Saturday.
