OWASSO -- With the support of his teammates, his school and superstars Carrie Underwood, Kevin Durant and Blake Shelton, Nathan Mitcham lived his dream.
The Owasso Rams basketball team manager got his chance to play after a Twitter campaign for him, KJRH NEWS2 reported.
He made the best of it, too.
What began as a student-led push and repeated tweets on the social network, evolved into a rousing home game crowd chanting Nathan's name.
The station reported that the crowd began arriving four hours before game time. With four minutes to play, his coach put him in.
Nathan scored, and scored again and again. The teen, who the station reported has an "intellectual disability," was carried off on the shoulders of some of those in attendance.
His teammate who started the drive to get him playing time said he was delighted.
"It was all worth it, the whole Twitter thing," he said. "I mean, I didn't know he was gonna be this good but I'm glad he was because he deserves it."
