In what might be the greatest event naming of all time, the folks at Cherokee Hills Veterinary Hospital are hosting a Howl-o-weenie party this week.

Howl-o-weenie? Are you kidding me? That’s the best name ever!

The party is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cherokee Hills Veterinary Hopsital, 7308 N MacArthur. The party is open to everybody – not just Dr. Bob Marshall’s patients and their people. Pups need to be leashed. Costumes are welcome on people and pets.

I’m hoping to go and take my daughter, who will be dressed like an animal, and my younger dog, who will be dressed like a person. We’re leaving my old man dog, Deter, at home because he’s a bit of a grump and tries to eat cats. This is a photo of him at Halloween three years ago. We’ve kept the costume because he loves wearing it. Really. We expect Sgt. Deter to make an appearance again this year, but not at this party.

But the younger dog and our kiddo will be there, ready to celebrate the greatest holiday ever: Howl-o-weenie.
