Today I heard Russell Simmons speak to about 350 students at John Marshall High School.

I’ll be honest: some days at my job are pretty awesome.

Not everything fits into every story, but here’s one thing that made me laugh.

Some people were wondering if a group of teens would know Russell Simmons and appreciate who he was.

The answer: yes.

During a pause in Simmons’ speech, a student in the audience shouted out “Krush Groove,” a 1985 movie Simmons produced.

“Krush Groove?” he said, laughing. “I made that movie before you were born.”
