News of the day: SpongeBob kills brain cells

Government. Oklahoma City officials perform micro surfacing on 100 lane miles of streets to help prevent bigger street problems later. After they’re finished, I hope they stop by my street for some macro surfacing.

Entertainment. A study found that chidlren who watched just 9 minutes of SpondgeBob SquarePants had a tougher time with memory than kids who watched a PBS show or just colored. Everyone was shocked to discover that something as educational and clever as SpongeBob SquarePants actually makes you dumber.

Sports. The University of Oklahoma topped the AP Top 25 football poll for the 100th time. Give someone else a change, Sooners.

Animals. Turns out, pets with bad breath might have dental disease. Or they might just eat too much garlic.
