Just in time for Halloween … a press release from Oklahoma City University about a movie that gave me nightmares. Thanks for the reminder, OCU!

Oklahoma City University will give free public screenings of the 2001 version of “Children of the Corn” at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the United Methodist Hall dorm theater room.

Between the two screenings, Fritz Kiersch, director of the original 1984 version and the chairman of OCU’s Moving Image Arts Program, will discuss the making of the movie.

Traditional movie snacks will be served including theater-style popcorn, candy, frozen desserts and cold beverages.

“Children of the Corn” is based on a short story written by Stephen King and has been made into numerous sequels since the original, which starred Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton.
