EDMOND -- An Oklahoma Bible smartphone application is gaining popularity across the country and has led some media outlets to question if various religious communities will embrace this same type of technology.
Bobby Gruenewald, pastor-innovation leader at Edmond-based LifeChurch.tv, said numerous people are using the tools available through LifeChurch.tv's popular YouVersion Bible app to link with "The Bible" series. The 10-hour series airs on Sunday nights and will continue through Easter Sunday on the History Channel.
Gruenewald said response has been positive in general to the Bible app which is helping to connect fans of the TV series to Scripture.
"We had people who thanked us for letting them know the series is on," Gruenewald said Tuesday.
"We kind of remind a lot our readers that the series is on every Sunday night and so a lot of people will tweet and say 'hey YouVersion, thanks for reminding me that it's on.' The response has been pretty incredible."
