Sadeghy finished second as a freshman and sophomore. With four-time state champ Megan Blonien of Altus playing for Oklahoma State, Sadeghy will be a favorite to capture first championship.

Bishop McGuinness golfer Alexis Sadeghy has a variety of different goals for her junior year.

But there should be no mistaking the big one.

“I want to win state this year,” the soft-spoken Sadeghy said.

As a freshman and sophomore, Sadeghy came in second at the state tournament, each time behind former Altus golfer Megan Blonien, who won four straight titles before heading to Oklahoma State.

Sadeghy is coming off a strong summer and fall season, in which she won the Sooner Junior and was selected for the Southern States Junior Cup, to be held in July in Jackson, Miss.

Now, she turns her attention back to team play with the Irish, who start their season in late March.

There's always pressure to perform on the golf course, but when she's representing her team, the pressure is different, especially considering the Irish are regular state title contenders — and hope to be again this y ear.

“You know you have to make a shot for the team, not just yourself, so it's a different feeling,” Sadeghy said. “We feel like we have a good team. We're all working hard, putting in a lot of hours.”
