Former Tulsa Public Schools' athletic director Stephanie Spring has pleaded guilty to federal embezzlement charges. Spring admitted Thursday in federal court in Tulsa that she took money from the rental of school facilities and deposited it into her personal bank account. She had been charged Jan. 31 with taking more than $5,000. A plea agreement calls for Spring to pay about $90,000 in restitution. Formal sentencing is scheduled for June 13. Spring issued a statement in which she apologized and said she “broke the law.” Spring resigned in January 2012 after coming under investigation. She remains free on bond. School district spokesman Chris Payne released a statement saying the district is pleased with the guilty plea and that Spring admits she “violated the public trust.”
