Putnam City North High School students spent weeks working to raise money for a young cancer patient who wanted to search for treasure during a pirate party, according to Steve Lindley, spokesman for Putnam City schools.

Peierson Meindertsma, 3, who has a type of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma, enjoyed his Make-A-Wish Foundation party on March 2 in the school gym, where decorations included a replica of a ship.
