Ex-Oklahoma lawmakers' bribery trial date set
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oct. 21 trial date has been set for two former Oklahoma lawmakers who face felony bribery charges.
The trial was scheduled Wednesday for former Republican Rep. Randy Terrill of Moore and former Democratic Sen. Debbe Leftwich of Oklahoma City. Pretrial motions in the case will be heard July 25.
The two will be tried before Oklahoma County District Judge Cindy Truong after the previous trial judge, District Judge Glenn Jones, stepped aside from the case. Jones says his wife works at the same law firm as Leftwich's attorney, Robert McCampbell.
Terrill is charged with offering Leftwich an $80,000-a-year job at the state medical examiner's office in exchange for Leftwich not running for re-election in 2010. Leftwich is charged with accepting a bribe.
Both have pleaded not guilty.
