Because of legalized abortion, thousands of unborn babies are being killed without any legal consequences against the parties involved. A small number of unborn babies die as a consequence of the murder of their mothers. In these cases, although the fetus is usually not the intended target, a substantial penalty (often several hundred years of prison) for the death of the child is added to the final sentence. If these babies are rightly recognized as human beings, why aren't the aborted ones? Both cases involve the death of innocent and defenseless human beings.
The claim by abortion advocates that the fetus is just a part (that is, an appendix) of the mother's body, over which she has unrestricted rights, is ludicrous. The unborn child is a human being with a unique genome — only 50 percent of its genetic material proceeds from the mother, whose body provides shelter and nourishment during the baby's gestation period. Therefore, abortion isn't removal of a portion of the mother's body, it is premeditated intrauterine homicide.
As for the medical professionals involved, their action is most despicable because it's a lucrative activity that, although not illegal, is a direct violation of the sacred Hippocratic oath.
