Anti-abortion group takes sanctity-of-life issues to Oklahoma Capitol

From Staff Reports Published: March 26, 2013

A faith-based march promoting an anti-abortion message was held Monday, with participants walking from the Oklahoma City Catholic Archdiocese cathedral to the state Capitol.

Participants in the 2013 March for Life OKC met at Our Lady's Cathedral, 3214 N Lake Ave., for a special Mass, then walked along Western Avenue to NW 23 east to the state Capitol.

Debby Krisch, one of the march's coordinators, said about 100 people participated in the march.

She said she thought cold weather may have discouraged others from participating, but those who did show up were cheerful.

“We walked a longer way this time, but everybody was in good spirits despite the cold,” Krisch said, referring to last year's shorter march from Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1616 N Kelley, to the state Capitol.

Krisch said the goal of the march was to bring awareness to sanctity-of-life issues in Oklahoma.

Krisch said many marchers were able to meet with state legislators at the state Capitol after the march.

“We caught them at a good time, and we were able to get our point across,” she said.
