Thunder: Seattle wants its retired numbers back

Retired Numbers should stay with the original franchises, period. And if OKC wins the NBA Championship, Seattle shouldn't throw a parade. And please don't go where the Dodgers are this year and wear Sonics jerseys as an alternate jersey.

That a boy david! Seattle, i respect the sonics when they were there but they were one of the worst teams in NBA history.....and what happened when they came to OKC. Sure the first year was a losing one but that was because we had to clean up the mess that Seattle left. And now were a 50 game winning team. If you guys would have spent all your time trying to keep seattle there instead of bashing OKC, you might have your team still but i promise they wouldnt even be half the team that they are today if they were still in Seattle. If you were real fans, the Sonics would have stayed there but guess what, they're the thunder now and its going to stay that way. Thunder up!!!!

Garage sale is a great analogy for this whole situation. One mans junk is another mans treasure!

claiming the Sonics history is like buying a trophy at a garage sale and saying it is your own trophy. Get real OKC fans, the history belongs to Seattle. And Seattle fans, it's overe with just let it go, a new team will probably arrive in the next few years.

By the way, there isn't constant rain in Seattle. Pull your head out.

This is comical. Question. Do the Lakers still have the history from when they were in Minnesota? I think they do. Personally, I couldn't care less about keeping the history, and i would rather see perk get to wear 43 if he wanted to, but he doesn't seem upset by it. Seattle Fans: I feel sorry for you, in a totally sincere and empathetic way and i hope you can get a team back in the future if for no other reason than having a great rivalry. :) But if you think the team was better off in Seattle, you clearly haven't been watching the thunder. Opposing teams (Lakers especially) have great respect for our fans for being the loudest in the NBA and, by the way, fill up the arena every game and vote(d) for measures to improve our facilities in order to get the team - two things Seattlites were not willing/able to do.

WATCH SONICSGATE! It won the award for best sports documentary online @ the 14th annual Webbie awards. OKC fans probably won't have the gumption to watch.

So, Seattle wouldn't welcome a team that might move there from Sacramento or elsewhere? I am sure the riteous Seattle fans would never steal another team. They must really hold out hope that the NBA expands and that they are so "committed" at that time that they actually build a semblance of an NBA quality arena. Bennett didn't STEAL their team, he RESCUED it and took it where they would actually DO something to improve it and not just TALK about old times.

I have no problem with Seattle fans hating Bennett (Yes, I've seen Sonicgate), wanting their history (though most of the time it does go with the team, see Minnesota Lakers), being hurt by the move, etc. What I do have issue with is the downgrading of Oklahomans, OKC, etc. Yes, OKC is smaller than Seattle that does not mean it does not DESERVE an NBA franchise and isn't a great fan base. Most recognize OKC arena and it's "college" atmosphere as being a terrific place to play. Did I want an NBA franchise? Yes. Am I sorry about how yours was taken, and am empathetic? Yes. Please, please, PLEASE back off the vitriol to Oklahomans and OKC and Oklahomans do likewise with people from Seattle. Seattle is gorgeous except for the constant rain. My cousin's from there, however, who is marrying one of my good friends from college is from Seattle so maybe that makes me more objective/empathetic

just to put this in another perspective... lets use an extreme example. Not that this would be likely to ever happen, but ... let's just say the Chicago Bulls get sold to a group of investors headquartered in Las Vegas. Legal mumbo jumbo says there needs to be a shared history, but the team can not be called the Las Vegas Bulls, or have red and white as their colors.
