Thunder: Name all 20 starters

My pals on the Thunder stat crew asked a great question the other night. Can you name all 20 players who have started for the Thunder, in the four Oklahoma City seasons. And no cheating. All answers are on the Internet. Do it from memory.

Stop reading right here if you want to do the test yourself. Or read along with my thought process.

The standard starting five from the last year is obvious: Russell Westbrook, Thabo Sefolosha, Kevin Durant, Kendrick Perkins, Serge Ibaka. Then from the current squad, I’d add James Harden (he’s started a few games), Nick Collison and Nazr Mohammed (Nazr started after the Perk trade but before Perk was healthy). But not Eric Maynor, because Westbrook always plays.

So that’s eight. From the Boston trade, Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic. That’s 10.

And from year one, you’ve got Desmond Mason, Chris Wilcox, Johan Petro, Damien Wilkins, Earl Watson and Kyle Weaver. (Admission: the guy who quizzed me let Weaver’s name drop; I might not have remembered Weaver, a super nice guy.)

So that’s 16. Hey, this is tougher than I thought.

Did Robert Swift start a game? Probably. Let’s call that 17.

Did Mouhamed Sene start a game? If Robert Swift started, I don’t know why Sene wouldn’t. So let’s call that 18.

Joe Smith probably started that first year. 19.

So who am I forgetting? OK, I give up. Time to look it up. If you don’t want to know the answers yet, stop reading.

Time to go through the rosters. This season, check. Last season, check. I feel a little better. I didn’t miss any obvious. The year before, ah, Etan Thomas. I missed Etan Thomas from the 2009-10 team. He played 23 games and started one. Even played in two playoff games against the Lakers, for a total of 17 minutes. I love Etan Thomas. But I don’t remember his start.
