Good news on the Welcome to the Big 12 Club. West Virginia is in the Orange Bowl. More good news on the Welcome to the Big 12 Club. The West Virginia band is worth seeing.

Like I’ve written, I didn’t want any of the exodus to occur, but the worst part of losing Nebraska was the football, the worst part of losing Colorado was the view, the worst part of losing Missouri was, well, I don’t know. But the worst part of losing Texas A&M was the Fighting Texas Aggie Band.

No one can replace the A&M band. But check out the Youtube video a a reader sent me of West Virginia’s Nov. 5 halftime show.

It’s a military salute for Veteran’s Day, and it’s big-time good. The songs are fantastic, and the marching is not just inspirational, but clever. Great, great stuff.

I don’t expect the full Mountaineer band to travel to Norman or Stillwater. But the video reminded me of all the new stuff we’ll learn about West Virginia, mostly, and TCU. Their traditions, their peculiarities, their people. It’s going to be great.

I wish West Virginia wasn’t so danged far, and I hope for the Mountaineers’ sake that we get a couple of other schools in the conference to help bridge the Cumberland Gap
