Buddy Hield keeps telling his trainers there’s no such thing as a setback.

There are only comebacks.

Just two weeks after surgery on his fifth metatarsal in his right foot, the freshman guard is boot free — and, you guessed it, — “FIRED UP!”

“How’s the foot?”

“Sore.”

“How are you?”

“Fired up.”

“How do you see the team?”

“Fired up.”

He sees the sweep against Baylor as a big deal and a potential sweep of Texas an even bigger deal for OU’s post-season chances.

The worst part about any of this to Hield right now is that he’s unable to compete. He said it feels like basketball is gone forever, but luckily for the freshman — who is already back to shooting baskets — it’s only two to four more weeks away.
