You know the slogan, ‘There’s Only One Oklahoma.’

Oklahoma assistant coach Steve Henson applied that to the energetic freshman guard on the men’s basketball team.

‘There’s Only One Buddy.’

Henson wrote a post for CollegeChalkTalk.com, a “National Coaches’ Diary Series,” about Buddy Hield.

Here’s an excerpt:

Have you ever spent time with someone and then walk away feeling better than before?  Most of us know a person who puts a smile on our face, makes us laugh, lifts our spirits, and inspires us.  Most people don’t have the great fortune to be around that person every day.

Buddy Hield, originally from the Bahamas, is our “energizer”.  His high school coach, Kyle Lindsted, told us that we would love him.  He tried to explain why, but we really didn’t understand until he joined our program.

When Buddy walks into the room, everyone smiles.  When he walks through the office, the entire place seems brighter.  When he steps onto the basketball court, there is just a terrific vibe.  I think he only smiles once per day – but that one smile lasts all day!
