The West part of the bracket. Find the Midwest part here. Here we go:

WEST REGIONAL

Opening Round:

Boise St. vs. La Salle

PICK: Boise St. :: Boise St. was last in the tournament four years ago. This season, they beat a good Creighton team and almost topped Michigan State, lost to New Mexico State in overtime and recently beat San Diego State. They’re a good ball team that put together a seven-game win streak this season. Luckily, all they need to do is play well for 40 minutes.

Second Round:

Gonzaga vs. Southern U

PICK: GONZAGA :: The Zags are still ranked No. 1 in the polls and there’s a reason. They win this one no problem.

Pittsburgh vs. Witchita State

PICK: PITTSBURGH ::  The Panthers are making their 11th tournament appearance in the last 12 years. They’ve also won 15 of their last 25 Big Dance games. However, a Shockers win wouldn’t surprise me. They almost did beat Creighton in the MVC Championship game.

Wisconsin vs. Ole Miss

PICK: WISCONSIN :: Wisconsin made it all the way to the finals of the Big Ten and almost beat Ohio State. They seem to have gotten hotter as the tournament came. Good for them. Bad for Ole Miss.

Kansas State vs. Boise State

PICK: KANSAS STATE :: Big 12 Coach of the Year shines.

Arizona vs. Belmont

PICK: BELMONT :: I’m being honest about these picks. I picked Belmont because I’ve seen neither team play this season. I know nothing about either and I didn’t have time to look anything up before hand. I’ve been to Belmont’s campus. I’ve never been to Arizona. Belmont wins. (What’s the fun of March Madness if you don’t add some of your own crazy Madness to the bracket?)

New Mexico vs. Harvard

PICK: NEW MEXICO :: Steve Alford’s 1987 Championship experience kicks in for his coaching and New Mexico’s recent tournament appearances aid the rest.

Notre Dame vs. Iowa State

PICK: NOTRE DAME :: Iowa State doesn’t get hot. Notre Dame is unstable, but the Irish pull it off.

Ohio State vs. Iona

PICK: OHIO STATE :: Buckeyes point guard Aaron Craft makes his first round of noise in this year’s tournament.

Third Round

Gonzaga vs. Pittsburgh

PICK: GONZAGA :: Gonzaga playing with a chip on their shoulder because people are still saying they don’t belong as a number one. They survive to see another round.

Wisconsin vs. Kansas State

PICK: WISCONSIN :: The Big Ten comes back to haunt Bruce Weber … hey, at least it isn’t Illinois.

Belmont vs. New Mexico

PICK: NEW MEXICO :: The Mountain West Champions keep rolling.

Notre Dame vs. Ohio State.

PICK: OHIO STATE :: Deshaun Thomas and Aaron Craft prove they are one of the best duos in the tournament.

Sweet Sixteen:

Gonzaga vs. Wisconsin

PICK: WISCONSIN :: Because Wisconsin’s surprised me before this season.

New Mexico vs. Ohio State

PICK: OHIO STATE :: Big Ten > Mountain West.

Elite Eight:

Wisconsin vs. Ohio State

PICK: WISCONSIN :: Who doesn’t love a rematch of a tight game that happened about a week and a half before? Wisky wins this one and writes its ticket to the Final Four.
