The three-member commission summed up the amendment by saying:
“With the adoption of this rulemaking, the commission sets up a regulatory framework in which recycling is a viable alternative to disposal, but allows the operators to make their own water and waste management decisions.”
It’s especially good news for companies such Fountain Quail Water Management LLC, which specializes in recycling water.
The Roanoke-based company started working with Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy (NYSE: DVN) to recycle frack water in 2002 and were the first to do it, COO Brent Halldorson said. He’s been working with the commission on this issue for several years.
