Police defend officer in tasing incident

CHICKASHA -- The police chief says his officer did nothing wrong when he used a taser on a man who later experience a health issue and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.



Chickasha Police Chief Eddie Adamson told the Chickasha Express-Star it was unfortunate the man, Kevin Branson, had the medical issue and had to be hospitalized, but he said officer David Harper-Head used no improper force.

Police said Bransom, who the officer originally was trying to stop for a traffic violation, first fled from the officer by vehicle, then by foot.

The chief said Bransom then did not comply with officers and ultimately was tasered before continuing to scuffle with them.

It was when he was being handcuffed that he exhibited the medical problem.
