Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster is hiring Detroit Lions QB coach Jeff Horton to be the Gophers’ offensive coordinator, Rivals’ Tom Dienhart is reporting.

That should eliminate any remnants of OU QB coach Josh Heupel-going-to-Minnesota chatter.

  Pertaining to Heupel, as Lee Corso would say: "Not so fast my friend!" Remember, Sonny Dykes resigned as Arizona's OC to be head coach of Louisiana Tech. So you know Mike Stoops at least asked Bob for permission to talk to Josh about the Arizona opening, and if you recall, before Josh returned to Oklahoma to coach the quarterbacks, he broke into coaching at Arizona as the tight ends coach.

  No way Heupel is being groomed to be a head coach right now. Have to be a OC first,1 step at a time please.

  He wasn't going anyway! He's being groomed for the head job in a few years, and he needs to stay put!
