OU details how it will honor Box (decal image)

Updating this, OU has sent out the helmet decal it will use to honor Box. Classy.

CAMPUS CORNER –In addition to quarterback Landry Jones, it sounds as if Austin Box‘s No. 12 will also be worn by an OU defender.

The SID just said the team’s defense will rotate wearing the 12 jersey from week to week. Kenny Mossman said details are still being worked out. The first guy to wear it, against Tulsa, is not yet known. Smart money, for a few reasons, is on Tom Wort.

The Sooners, and the defense in particular, have been deeply affected by Box’s death in May. This move with the jersey had been discussed – and I think it was even mentioned on the ESPN All-Access program – but it sounds as if OU is moving forward with those plans. We’ll know more Monday or Tuesday about how they will honor him.
